Safeguarding Team
The members of the safeguarding team are:
|
Louise Matheson (Safeguarding Coordinator) |
Jo Thomson (Deputy Safeguarding Coordinator) |
 |
|
The safeguarding team have a particular responsibility in promoting a safe culture within Grace Church. They are often the first people to talk to if you have a concern, whether it is something that you wish to raise officially or just for some informal advice. They are responsible for ensuring that all concerns that have been raised are responded to appropriately and effectively.
The safeguarding team have a number of other responsibilities, including safe recruitment and provision of safeguarding training, ensuring, so far as we are able, that all those at Grace who work with children or vulnerable adults, whether in a paid or voluntary capacity, are suitable and equipped for these roles.

Safeguarding coordinators have undertaken advanced safeguarding training provided by 31:8, and all members of the team have access to support and advice from 31:8.
Anyone at Grace Church is welcome to contact a member of the safeguarding team at any point to talk, either formally or informally, about any concerns that they have.

Matt Borg (Trustee for Safeguarding) |
 |
As the Trustee for safeguarding, Matt provides oversight of the team. He also provides an important link with the rest of the church leadership, helping the Trustees to ensure that they are taking responsibility for safeguarding. Whilst he is not directly involved in responding to concerns, and, unless necessary, is not aware of the details of individual concerns, he ensures that the team are given appropriate support and authority.
